Workshop: Global sanitation and hygiene (online)

More than 60% of the world's population lives without adequate sanitation. This is becoming a problem, because where toilets, clean drinking water and washing facilities are lacking, pathogens can spread particularly quickly and subsequently cause life-threatening diseases, such as COVID-19. However, it is not only the global sanitary situation that is a cause for concern, but also the condition of, or the way in which many school toilets are used in Germany.

The workshop offers staff of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)-related, non-profit, public utilities interesting knowledge about the global sanitation and hygiene crisis as well as pedagogical methods they can use in dealing with students* of different age groups or adults (e.g. at their children's school or in the context of their own educational work). The event should encourage and enable them to get involved in the media or at schools in the area as part of their own educational work, professional communication or on the occasion of relevant world days (e.g. World Water Day).
