Breaking the Toilet-Taboo
Approximately 60 % of the world's population have no access to safe sanitation: a degrading situation for those affected. The German Toilet Organization (GTO) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation, which actively breaks the toilet-taboo and works to improve sanitation, thereby protecting the environment, human health and dignity worldwide.
Focus Areas
Toilets for All, All for Toilets
The magnitude of the global sanitation crisis demands collaborative action. GTO contributes its knowledge and skills in such a way, that other actors are empowered to increase their respective impacts. GTO works in three strategic focus areas:
- Sharing its comprehensive expertise on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).
- Breaking the toilet taboo and strengthening political will at all levels.
- Providing tools and concepts to achieve safe, clean and hygienic school sanitation worldwide.
