Basic Seminar: Sanitation in an Urban Context

With regard to the rapid urbanisation, especially in developing and emerging countries, this seminar examines how the primary objective of sanitation – the safe storage and disposal of faeces – can be sustainably guaranteed in urban areas. The two-day seminar gives an overview of the challenges and potentials of sanitation in an urban context and offers a balanced mixture of practical group exercises and theoretical contents.

After the seminar, the participants should be familiar with the particularities of sanitation in urban areas, have an overview of the different aspects of sanitation in urban areas and know the basics and methods for implementing projects in urban areas.

The target group for this seminar are employees of non-governmental organisations as well as interested parties who carry out projects in the sanitary sector or with sanitary components in developing and emerging countries, especially in urban contexts.
